The process of learning from an experiential exercise is as follows:
Experience > Debrief > Generalization > Application
EXPERIENCE
The participants are led in an activity that is enjoyable and stimulating.
DEBRIEF
A discussion follows the experience. This discussion helps participants
identify what they can learn from the events that just transpired.
GENERALIZATION
Participants identify how what they learned may be applicable in many
different situations.
APPLICATION
Participants identify specific work-related situations where they can
use what they learned.
The value of experiential learning is well described by the Chinese proverb:
"What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand"
